While Pay Per Click (or PPC) is a great way to get traffic quickly to your website, as its name suggests, you have to PAY for it. However, there are many ways to get free traffic to your site, and one of them is by using the Social Networking sites. One of the best StumbleUpon.

StumbleUpon is the combination of a great website and a small piece of software, which is designed to help you find websites that will most likely be of interest to you. It does this in two ways. Once you have signed up to be a 'stumbler' (which is free) you will be asked to complete a two-minute questionnaire so that the software (which you will install into your toolbar) knows what things you are interested in learning more about. This is the first way that it works.

The second way it works is by having other "stumblers" rate each website that they discover. When they find a site that they like, they use the downloadable tool to give the site a thumbs-up or thumbs-down. Literally, there are two small buttons, one showing a thumbs-up and the other a thumbs-down. Whenever you find a site that you like (or dislike) you click one of the buttons and this will open a new window where you can make a comment about why you like the site.

You can also click the 'stumble' button, which will present you with a new website; the site will be related to the topics that you told the software you were interested in. Which sites will be presented? Well, they're not totally random. They are in a hierarchical list and the ones towards the top of the list are presented to you first.

This begs the question, how does a website make its way to the top of that particular list? Simple, it does this because other stumblers have given that site more thumbs-ups than the other websites!

There are separate tools for either Firefox or Internet Explorer, so depending on which web-browser you use will determine which piece of software you install onto your toolbar. You can find this free software just by using your search-engine and typing the word StumbleUpon.

But how does this help you get more traffic?

As an internet marketer or you just have a website you want to promote, you can use this tool to make YOUR website found by other "stumblers", that is, anybody else who is using the StumbleUpon software. You see, you can also rank your OWN site in StumbleUpon. However, you must be cautious when doing this. You can't just thumbs-up your own sites all the time; if you do this, you'll be banned by the StumbleUpon team very quickly.

The way it works is very simple; however, you need to study how to use StumbleUpon properly. If you don't, you either won't get the traffic you want, or your account will be closed for good. There are many ways to drive traffic to your website. Lets face it, no matter what you are selling online, if you don't have anyone view your site, you will not make sales. And sales is what this is all about...Right?

The first way, and the fastest way to start to get immediate traffic to your website is to use Google Pay Per Click or PPC for short. Now, PPC will cost you some money, but, it also will send immediate traffic to your site.

The trick to conquering Google PPC is research! Find a niche keyword that does not have a lot of competition. This is where you use your imagination. Ask yourself one simple question..."If I were looking for this product, what would I type in Google?"

This simple technique can save you hundreds of dollars and lots of time.

One other big tip for Google PPC is to remember. People come to the internet to solve a problem! What problem can you solve for them. This is another great source of keywords.

Many people start with "How do I....." or "How can I...." See what I mean? If you can answer a problem question like this and provide a solution you may have just found a winner of a keyword!

Another great way to drive traffic to your website is to write articles. Ezine articles just like the one you are reading right now are ways in which people not only give out valuable information but also get their websites seen in exchange.

Think of it like this. If I give you valuable information in my article. Aren't you going to want to know what else I have to share with you. Sure you are!

So when you write an article you are allowed to put your link at the tail end so that the people who are interested in what you have to say can visit your link to see what else of value there is for them. After all who doesn't like free information!

The third way that can drive massive traffic to your website is Traffic Exchanges. Traffic exchanges or auto surf sites have become very popular as of late.

These are sites where you can either join for free and usually receive a 1:1 ratio for sites that you surf vs. your site that others will view. Or you can pay a nominal amount and actually earn money for surfing others sites and also get the same benefit of your site also being seen.

I use auto surf sites daily and I receive tons of traffic from them. They take some time. I spend maybe an hour a day surfing 3 different sites I belong to. But the point is, they work!

Using Multiple Methods of Traffic Generation

You will find there are multiple methods available for driving traffic to your site(s). Use as many as you can manage. Some you will hear of, others you will create. Be truthful and giving of your time and traffic will come your way.

Articles, of course, you will hear much about. With articles you are providing free, quality content for others to read, share, and use on their sites. When webmasters use your articles on their sites, your links are attached. You will receive backlinks which will bring you new traffic and help in your search rankings. Continue to create articles and submit them online.

Posting on social sites will get your links and information out there to the public as well. There are many good ones. I try to use several on a regular basis, like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. I have had several people follow me on Twitter and a few on you tube and Facebook.

You can make regular posts in online communities as well. They can be message boards, e-mail discussion lists or chat rooms. Posting helpful answers on message boards can bring you loyal subscribers and customers.

Place some ads on free advertising sites. You can post on free classified ad sites, free for all site links sites, even free yellow page directories. You could exchange classified ads with other free ezine publishers.

Freebies also can boost your traffic. People love to get things for free. Give away a free ebook, report, or maybe some software. Provide free software others can also give away.

Trading links with other webmasters can be advantages to building customers with a built-in recommendation. If you are dealing with a site that has more subscribers than you, offer to put more ads on your site to make up the difference.

Give some of the traffic exchanges a try. Be consistent, build up your credits and add more advertisements. Most will allow you to build a down line, which will help build your credits. The more credits you build, the more ads you can run.

Traffic Tornadoes! How to Create Traffic and Traffic Generation Strategies

I am going to talk about creating traffic, hunting for traffic, schmoozing for traffic, funneling traffic, and begging for traffic. Things near and dear to my heart. I've never wanted traffic more in my life!

Mea culpa! Internet marketing has become an obsession for me. It's so much fun, don't you agree? I don't think I could ever stop doing this.

Stop pimping ourselves. And as far as internet marketers go, we're a bunch of enthusiastic experimenters, but do concentrate and focus on the plan we set up.

In a nutshell, including creating traffic, do the following

- focus on creating good content for the blog to attract the fish

- keep on positioning ourselves as an authority figure

- stop chasing the money

- stop pimping ourselves on the social media networks like Twitter; and to

- stick to the plan we set for ourselves

The plan is the most crucial part of this system. Now, I might slip now and then, but if I didn't have a good plan, I wouldn't know how bad it was!

Traffic Generation Methods

There were several methods we could use to create traffic. Each have their own strengths but if used in conjunction with the other methods, they help increase visibility to any lowly blog.

To name a few methods:

- Blogging - Your essential oil rig platform. The repository of all knowledge of your theme. When you blog, you create unique content of which some people may be interested in leaving comments, linking you back to their blogs, referring you to friends, etc.

- Forum Marketing - A place where you meet people of the same interest. You target forums after you have identified the important keywords your fish congregate. Forums are not places where you leave inane remarks that make you sound like a robot so don't do it!

- Article Submissions - Spread the net far and wide, the article submission methods is known to be slow, but it lasts forever. Once done, you can submit your articles to the myriad article directories online, such as EzineArticles.

- Press Releases - write your own feature article and send it to a press release site such as PRWeb. It's bound to create a lot of traffic if you do it right.

- Giveaways - Join giveaway events and watch your sign ups spike.

Through in a free product of your own to an ever-growing pot of free products in a joint venture with other internet marketers to attract a wider audience of targeted consumers. It works because the accumulative nature of all the lists of participating internet marketers combined with a common voice.

- eBay - If you are not aware of it, eBay has a section for marketing "Information Products" under its ubiquitous "Everything Else" category. You can use this to sell your ebooks and other info products you are planning to practically give away so you can generate some traffic.

- Social Media - Social media is about relationships. The point behind social media is mainly to drive relationships first and to drive massive traffic once people decide you're cool and human.

Unless you lived under a rock for the past 10 years, you've heard of these online portals for social media: Facebook, Friendster, Twitter, MySpace, Flickr, Squidoo, Hubpages, and more.

Social media is more about community and sharing information. Be careful about where to pimp, if you intend to pimp.

Depending on the social media site, you could sell, but you have to know which site to do that. Blatantly selling your product on the wrong site will get you flamed, unfollowed, ignored, and blocked by its denizens. So do your homework.

- Video Traffic - Video is positively one of the best ways to get you traffic! Just ask Her Royal Highness, the Video Marketing Queen: Mario Andros about it, and she will, in no uncertain terms tell you why now is the perfect time to get into video marketing!

Google absolutely loves YouTube and puts videos on the top ten results all the time in its search results.

- Twitter - Now, I've known Twitter since forever, but it's only recently that I discovered the TRUE POWER of Twitter! Where else can you send a message to up thousands of your followers online, REAL TIME and for FREE!

Here is where pimping is most prevalent. And the experts all agree that Twitter isn't for MEGA pimping, it's for building better relationships! You can find most of the experts on Twitter tweeting away with no hangups.

How I Generate Massive Amounts of Free Traffic to My Websites

If you're reading this I'm going to make some simple assumptions about you. Your relatively new to internet marketing, you've had a few mildly successful projects but you have encountered a major stumbling block that's preventing you getting to the next level. And that stumbling block is traffic. Am I right? OK, I know what you're going through. Let me show you the way forward.

They key to long term free traffic is appealing to the search engines. And the best way to appeal to the search engines is fresh, regular, unique, keyword rich content and back links. This is critical. I think that one of the biggest problems is patience. People have a new website which they are keen to test and aren't prepared to focus on the long term. They want immediate traffic and when this doesn't come they give up. This is a huge mistake. Generating regular long term traffic takes time and you have to wait for things to happen.

Here's all I do. I prefer blogging as it's really easy to add fresh content regularly. It's just as easy as writing an article and pushing submit. I post new content on average every couple of days (1 to 2 posts). I then write an article and use Unique Article Wizard (a paid service that I subscribe to) to create and then automatically submit articles to hundreds or thousands of different sites. In my resource box I include anchor text containing the keywords that I am targeting, one linking to my home page and another linking to another page within my site (this is called deep linking). I submit to about 40 sites per day. After about a month I write another article and repeat the process. And guess what, it really works. These articles do not generate traffic themselves. However, the back links that I create lead to exponential increases in search engine traffic with time. After a couple of months I'll be receiving about 100 unique visits a week which continues to rise and rise and rise.

I also boost traffic by submitting articles to EzineArticles, HubPages and Squidoo. These are high ranking sites so the back links that you generate carry a lot of weight. They are also pretty good and creating immediate direct traffic, especially if you do your keyword research correctly.

I also have a bit of software called RSS bot which I use to submit my site's content via RSS to 30+ RSS directories. This is an incredible bit of software - the whole process takes about 10 minutes and it's great for building up link juice.

I do use social bookmarking although I'm not quite sure how well this works in terms of boosting your SEO. It is great however for getting my sites indexed quickly (which sometimes happens within 24 hours!).

The other thing that I do is include posts on popular forums and add comments to blogs and other sites containing related articles, all of course with a link back to my site. These aren't as powerful as anchor links but they are links nonetheless.
